Matthew Coxhill – Counsellor and Life Coach
I offer a range of general counselling services with a focus centering on understanding and supporting the specific needs of men and young men. I offer guidance to navigate the
intricacies of maleness, addressing issues such as emotional expression, relationships, and personal development. Through a compassionate and non-judgmental approach, I empower clients to explore their identities, confront challenges, and cultivate healthy coping mechanisms.
Whether it’s navigating career transitions, relationship dynamics, or mental health concerns, I provide a safe space for exploration and growth. Together, we work towards fostering
resilience, self-awareness, and fulfilling lives aligned with individual values and aspirations. This person-centred approach places you at the heart of the discussion, valuing your unique perspectives and autonomy. Rather than offering direct advice, through a collaborative process you are empowered to tap into your own resources, gaining insight, and finding your path forward.
My professional journey brings wide-ranging experience in diverse workplaces and communities in Australia and overseas. Originally a fish farmer, I then spent many years
with multi-national corporations, followed by work in small business and university. Underpinning these experiences is a deep spiritual connection to nature and the wilder
places in the world.
I hold a Diploma of Counselling, a Bachelor of Science, a Masters in Peace and Conflict Studies, a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, and am a sessional academic at the
University of Newcastle.
I am available for appointments during the day on Tuesdays or after business hours on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
